Documentary on 2002 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 to premiere on HDNetâ€s
all-HD network Essex Television Group Inc., based in Niantic, Conn., has produced the 90-minute documentary which will premiere Wednesday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m. (EST) on HDNet, the leading all-high definition network available on DIRECTV and Charter Communications. "Drive Like Hell" will have numerous additional HDNet airdates throughout March, as well as a special theatrical screening in Henderson, Nev., on July 10, during race-week activites of the 2nd Annual SCORE Henderson's Terrible 250. Filmed in Baja, Mexico in September, October and November of last year, the documentary is the first behind-the-scenes film ever made about the legendary SCORE Baja 1000. The film profiles four prominent SCORE race teams--Terrible Herbst Motorsports, American Honda Motorcycles, Enduro Racing and the Centrix Financial Racing--as they prepare for, and then race in, this grueling annual event. The film also uses historic race footage and follows the extraordinary travails of race organizer, Sal Fish, SCORE CEO/President, who has been staging the race for more 30 years. "This film is a tremendous way to help immortalize the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, and we think it does an incredible job of catching the essence that is this grandaddy of all desert races," said Fish, as he continues to lead SCORE during it celebration of 30 years of presenting championship desert racing. Troy shares the driving in this 1,017-mile race from Ensenada to La Paz with desert racing legend Larry Roeseler, of Hesperia, Calif. in a Ford-powered Smithbuilt open-wheel desert race car in the unlimited Class 1. The number 1 American Honda motorcycle team includes Steve Hengeveld, Oak Hills, Calif., and Johnny Campbell, San Clemente, Calif., on a Honda XR650R. Both of Riverside, Calif., Dan Smith and David Ashley drive a Ford F-150 SCORE Trophy-Truck for Dick Landfield's Enduro Racing. Centrix Financial's Robert Sutton leads his team in the Baja Challenge class for identically-equipped Porsche-powered Baja touring cars. Dallas and Denver-based HDNet (www.hd.net) is the leading all high definition national television network, broadcasting on channel 199 on DirecTV and on select Charter Communications cable markets. Programming includes movies, professional and amateur sports, documentaries, and special events--all in spectacular HDTV. The season-finale for the six-race series will be the 36th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, to be held Nov. 13-16 in Mexico's Baja Californie Norte.
