Dear Las Vegas “200” Entry,

Welcome to the newest adventure in off-road racing in Nevada, the Las Vegas “200”. You are about to embark on a 200-mile EPIC Off-Road Race. This information packet is very important to you, your team, your support crew, and all others who will be joining you. Please read it all the way through. Enclosed you will find a schedule of events, your vehicle race number, and the balance of your fees. All names on each entry form will receive the information enclosed in this packet.

For those of you who will be staying at the SUNCOAST HOTEL in Las Vegas, I remind you to be on your best behavior. We are privileged to be invited guests of the Suncoast Hotel and we want to be invited back next year. Please treat the facilities and your rooms with the utmost respect. Please don’t throw trash, paper, or set bottles and cans down in the parking lots. Please!!! Also, keep in mind that you must be 21 years old to drink alcohol or gamble in Nevada. Please think about what you are doing at all times! Please don’t ruin it for everyone by doing something dumb! Think! Think! Think!

#1)
The first thing you do on Friday, December 5, 2003 is check in at the final Drivers/Riders registration at the Suncoast Hotel & Casino, at the 2nf Floor Fairway Rooms, you will have to take the hotel elevator to the 2nd Floor and then follow the signs. (See Schedule of Events) All names listed on your official Las Vegas “200” entry form must go through Drivers/Riders registration at the same time (No exceptions). If you have changes to your entry form Please make them before you get to registration (adding people, any changes). This makes it easier on you and our staff. The balance of your fees must be paid on Friday, December 5, 2003. Please bring CASH ONLY!!! No checks will be accepted!!! CASH ONLY!! The Drivers/Riders final registration will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM only on Friday, December 5, 2003. All of your team’s names listed on your official Las Vegas “200” entry form must be at Las Vegas on Friday, December 5, 2003, for exceptions please call the office.

The second thing you do on Friday, December 5, 2003 is Contingency Inspection, from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM at the Sunocast Hotel Northwest Parking Lot (See Vicinity Map). Also enclosed in this information packet is a list of contingencies offered for the Las Vegas “200” race. Please read it!!!

Special Note: The Best In The Desert contingency inspectors will be checking very closely to make sure the contingency sponsor’s products are being used by your race vehicle!! Please don’t say you are using a product if you are not!

The third thing you do on Friday, December 5, 2003 is Race Vehicle Technical Inspection, from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM at the Suncoast Hotel Northwest Parking Lot. (See Vicinity Map). At least one (1) of the entries listed on the official Las Vegas “200” entry form that has their armband on must be with the race vehicle through technical inspection.

NOTE: All race vehicles must go through Technical Inspection!!!

The fOURTH thing you must do on Friday, December 5, 2003 is to attend the mandatory Drivers/Riders Meeting! This mandatory meeting will be at Suncoast Hotel at 7:00 PM, at the Outside Pool Deck, at least one arm-banded member of the team must be at the meeting to take notes!

ROOKIE MEETING ~ ROOKIE MEETING !!!
Immediately following the Driver/Rider meeting Curt LeDuc, Johnny Campbell and Doug Eichner, all off-road race champions, will be conducting a ROOKIE MEETING for ALL ROOKIE CAR/TRUCK, MOTORCYCLE/QUAD ROOKIES!! Important informatin will be discussed at this Rookie Meeting, please take the time to attend, it may prevent an accident!

There will be no pre-race Impound for any race Vehicles!

Special Rules For The Las Vegas “200” Race
1. 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT IN THE MAIN PIT AREA!!! 30 MPH - 30 MPH - 30 MPH!!! WILL BE ENFORCED!!!
2. There will not be a testing or jetting area. Come prepared to race!
3. The Las Vegas “200” race is a No Pre-Run course. If you are caught on the Las Vegas “200” course by any Best In The Desert official or BLM staff you will be disqualified from the Las Vegas “200”. Please!! Everyone stay away from the Las Vegas “200” course!! No Pre-Running!!!
4. Starting order will be announced to everyone at the mandatory Drivers/Riders meeting at the Suncoast Hotel on Fri., Dec 5, 2003.
5. All Pit Support Vehicles as well as Race Vehicles must stay off the Best In The Desert radio frequency of 151.490 MHz, unless you are reporting an emergency. Please!!
6. Best In The Desert will have the best radio communications going. However, we will not have a race vehicle relay set up for the racers or pit crews. If you need race information, go to any of the Pit Stops and look for the Best In The Desert communications location. (See the Pit Support pages for location.) Also, there will be radio communications locations at the Start Area - Finish Area (Ford Mesa) at the Best In The Desert Scoring Bus at the finish line.
7. Your pit crews do not need a 4-WD vehicle to get in or out of any of the Pit Stops.
8. Tell your pit crews not to speed on the paved roads, the dirt roads or the old LA highway. The BLM Rangers will be enforcing a 25 mph speed limit. Please be safe and drive smart!!!!
9. You will receive one racecourse map in the Final Information Packet, if you need additional maps please make copies.
10. For the Las Vegas “200” race, Best In The Desert will supply each driver or rider with a bright yellow Stuck Stub to carry with you during the race. Please use the card if you are broken down or out of the race, carry a pencil or pen, fill out your name the night before!
11. You must park at the Pit Stops like the diagram shows for each Pit Stop. Please pay attention to the Pit Captain!
12. Absolutely no pitting anywhere else on the course except at the designated Pit Stops.
13. The rule for Las Vegas “200” race course will be passing in unvegatative areas only. Do not short course!!
14. Please tell your Support Crews to please clean their pit area before they leave each Pit Stop.
15. All check points in the Las Vegas “200” race are hidden checks.
16. Do not short course!! Please stay on the course except to pass another vehicle! Please do not take short cuts!!
17. Support Crews!! If you hear your race vehicle is broken down! Do Not Jump in your truck - motorcycle - ATV and try to go out on the course to help them. Go to the Best In The Desert radio location at each of the Pit Stops and they will tell you what to do.
18. If your race vehicle is broken down and you cannot fix it yourself, then you will have to WAIT UNTIL THAT SECTION CLOSES before your chase truck can enter the course to get you, unless a Best In The Desert OFFICIAL is available to help!
19. NO CHASE TRUCKS OR CHASE VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE RACE COURSE DURING THE RACE. No outside assistance permitted on the course during the event with the exception of the designated pit areas ONLY.
20. It is not recommended to bring Motorhomes, Big Trucks, Big Trailers, to Alternate Pit B for the Car/Truck race. However, the Main Pit Area has plenty of room for all large vehicles, as well as C/T Alt Pit A and the Alt Pit for Motorcycles/Quads.
21. NO AIR SUPPORT allowed during the Las Vegas “200” race.
22. Overnight camping will be allowed at the Start/Finish Area. The Pit Area on the Dry Lake will be watered on race day.
23. Only the official entries entered on the Las Vegas “200” entry blank for that race vehicle may be either on or in the race vehicle!!
No Exceptions!!!
24. All race support vehicles must display a Best In The Desert Pit Pass on the windshield. You can pick up your Pit Passes at Driver/Rider Registration at the Las Vegas “200”. Each race entry can have up to six (6) Pit Passes.
25. Ride and Drive Safe!! Do not go backwards on the course!! No matter what happens!! Think at all times!!
26. There will be mile markers every mile on the course, starting at Mile 1. We will not revert to Mile Zero (0) at each Pit Stop. The mile markers are white for the Car/Truck Course and Flourscent Green for the Motorcycle/Quad Course.
27. The course will be marked with Pink / Blue Ribbon (C/T Course Only) Pink Only (MC/Q Course) - Pink Arrows - Orange Danger Marks - Bright Yellow Turn Ahead Arrows - Bright Orange Dangers Ahead Signs - Black & White Wrong Way Signs. The Orange Danger Marks will be on the danger area.

28. The time allowed to complete the total 200+ mile race for BOTH Car/Truck and Motorcycle/Quad Course will be 10 Hours.
29. Cars/Trucks MUST complete three (3) laps total of 225 miles and MC/Q MUST complete three (3) laps total 216 miles to be a finisher.
30. Race elevation: Start/Finish at 1800 feet in Las Vegas. Average elevation for the race is 2000 feet.
31. Be prepared for cool weather in the early morning in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas “200” - Motorcycle/Quad Instructions
1. The Motorcycle/Quad racecourse will be totally separate from the Car/Truck racecourse.
2. The only part of the two racecourses that will be the same is a mile and a half of the Main Pit Area at the Start/Finish Line.
3. For the SAFETY of all, there will be a 30 MPH Speed Limit in the Main Pit Area. The 30 MPH Speed Limit will be enforced!
4. The Motorcycle/Quad racecourse will be three (3) loops on a 72-mile course.
5. The Las Vegas “200” IS A MANDATORY THREE (3) LAP RACE. To be considered a “finisher” you MUST complete all three laps!
You will have a total of ten (10) hours to complete the three (3) laps.
6. The Motorcycle/Quad racecourse will have one (1) Alternate Pit at Mile Marker 43.5.
7. Special Note: If your Motorcycle/Quad cannot go 72 miles on a tank of gas I recommend you use the alternate pit.
8. You may switch riders at either the Main Pit or the Alternate Pit ONLY!
9. EXTREME DANGER: The Main Pit located on the Jean Dry Lake will be the same pit for both Motorcycles & Quads and Cars & Trucks. Use extreme caution both coming it to the pit and when leaving! Remember, there is a 30 mph speed limit in the Main Pit Area!
10. There will be two (2) Paved Road Xings and two (2) Rail Road Underpasses. The second Rail Road Underpass is very low, USE CAUTION!
11. All Motorcycles/Quads must have a minimum of six (6) inch numbers only! “No Exceptions” will be made!!!
12. Special Note: All Quads must display their race number in three (3) places on their vehicle. Please make them as clear and easy to read as possible. Mandatory, ALL quads must have a front number plate.
13. Special Note: NEW STIPULATION FROM THE BLM - All MC/Q teams changing fuels and making any repairs in the pits must use a CARPET or TARP. The BLM will be looking for these carpets or tarps in the pits!

Las Vegas “200” - Car/Truck Instructions
1. The Car/Truck racecourse will be totally separate from the Motorcycle/Quad racecourse.
2. The only part of the two racecourses that will be the same is a mile and a half of the Main Pit Area at the Start/Finish Line.
3. For the SAFETY of all, there will be a 30 MPH Speed Limit in the Main Pit Area. The 30 MPH Speed Limit will be enforced!
4. The Car/Truck racecourse will be three (3) loops on a 75 mile course.
5. The Las Vegas “200” IS A MANDATORY THREE (3) LAP RACE. To be considered a “finisher” you MUST complete all
three (3) laps! You will have a total of ten (10) hours to complete the three (3) laps.
6. The Car/Truck racecourse will have two (2) alternate pits, Pit 1 at Mile Marker 12.3, and Pit 2 at Mile Marker 55.4.
7. EXTREME DANGER: The Main Pit located on the Jean Dry Lake will be the same pit for both Motorcycles & Quads and Cars & Trucks. Use extreme caution both coming it to the pit and when leaving! Remember, there is a 30 mph speed limit in the Main Pit Area!
8. There will be NO Paved Road Xings but two (2) Rail Road Underpasses, VERY CLOSE TOGETHER- USE CAUTION!
9. All Cars/Trucks must have a minimum eight (8) inch numbers only!
10. Special Note: NEW STIPULATION FROM THE BLM - All Car/Truck teams changing fuels and making any repairs in the pits must use a CARPET or TARP. The BLM will be looking for these carpets or tarps in the pits!

Las Vegas “200” - Special Instructions for all Participants
1. PLEASE FOLLOW YOUR SUNCOAST HOTEL PARKING INSTRUCTION SHEET! PLEASE PARK IN THE DESIGNATED RACE SUPPORT PARKING LOTS! THE SUNCOAST HOTEL IS A VALUABLE SUPPORTER OF OFF-ROAD RACING AND WE MUST RESPECT THEIR WISHES! THANK YOU!
2. AT LEAST ONE ARM BANDED PERSON FROM YOUR TEAM MUST ATTEND THE MADATORY DRIVER/RIDER MEETING ON FRIDAY NIGHT AT 7 PM OR YOUR RACE VEHICLE WILL RECEIVE A ONE HOUR PENALTY, BY ORDER OF THE BLM!
3. FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL, THERE WILL BE A 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT IN THE MAIN PIT AREA ON THE JEAN DRY LAKE. THIS 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT WILL BE ENFORCED!
