Las Vegas, NV (December 16, 2003) -- The Teixeira Tech/CT/Avina Prep ATV off-road racing team of Ed Teixeira (Tracy, CA) Shane Strunk (Phoenix, AZ), and Jason Sparks (Sparks, NV) won the 2003 Class Championship after placing 2nd in Best in the Desert's Vegas "200", the sixth and final event in the 2003 Silver State Series.

The team rode a Honda TRX 250R built by Teixeira Technologies and race prepped by Kevin Avina (Avina Prep). The Honda was equipped with an aluminum frame and the new Teixeira Tech desert X-² a-arm suspension kit, including Custom Axis Shocks and a Teixeira Tech steering stem for reduced bump steer. The Teixeira Tech Racing team was the seventh quad expert off the starting line. Jason Sparks rode the first section of a 72 mile loop and was the fifth expert quad to arrive at the alternate pit. Shane Strunk hopped on to ride the next section, passing another quad to arrive fourth into the main pit. With a quick fuel up and rider change, Ed Teixeira rode hard, passing another rider before arriving at the alternate pit.

The team continued a series of rider changes and battled hard against Q80 for first place, falling behind only due to a lost rear brake bolt. The Teixeira Tech Race Team finished 2nd Place, with enough points to win the 2003 Class Championship.

The 2004 Silver State Series begins January 9, 2004 in Parker, AZ at the KTM "250". For more information, check out the Best in the Desert website at www.bitd.com.
