BFGoodrich Tires Introduces
Motorsports Person Of The Year Award;
SCORE's Sal Fish Named First Recipient Of Prestigious Honor

Greenville, SC - December 15, 2003 -- BFGoodrich Tires has started a new tradition in motorsports, the BFGoodrich Tires Motorsports Person Of The Year award. The new award will annually recognize the best of all the racing series in which BFGoodrich Tires participates.

Sal Fish, president of SCORE International was named the first recipient of the BFGoodrich Tires Motorsports Person Of The Year award during the SCORE 30th Anniversary banquet and awards ceremony Saturday at the Gold Coast Hotel in Las Vegas.

During the ceremony, Gary Enterline, light-truck category manager for BFGoodrich Tires, surprised everyone by announcing the new award during his remarks highlighting the brand's involvement with the series.

"When we were discussing who we would award the first trophy to, the name Sal Fish kept popping up, as it has over the past 30 years," said Enterline.

"It is only fitting that we start a new tradition in motorsports by honoring a person that has contributed more than 30 years of his life to off-road racing." During Sal Fish's 30-year tenure as president of SCORE International, the series has been the number one off-road series in the world and was the first to gain national television exposure. In addition, Fish has developed the SCORE Baja 1000 into the world's premier desert racing event, attracting hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators each year.

From the ovals of stock car racing and the quarter-mile drag strip to the extreme rocks of rock crawling and the trying courses of desert racing, this new award is designed to recognize not only the drivers, but teams, crew members, officials and administrators in the series that BFGoodrich Tires participates.

To win the award, the person must have made a significant contribution to racing both on and off the track, demonstrated a commitment to excellence and an uncompromising passion for motorsports, shown a sincere dedication to improve his/her series for all competitors and leave a positive and lasting mark.

"This award is about giving back to racing," said Thom Peebles, BFGoodrich Tires brand director. "For nearly 30 years, we have been involved in nearly every form of racing imaginable. It is important that we take time to recognize the achievement and sportsmanship of those who make racing what it is today." Each year, five finalists will be selected by BFGoodrich Tires and will be voted on at the brand's Web site (www.bfgoodrichtires.com). Once the winner is selected, the presentation will be made during the respective series' annual awards banquet.

In addition to being named BFGoodrich Tires Motorsports Person Of The Year, the winner's name will be engraved on a large crystal trophy and they will receive a smaller replica of the trophy with his/her name engraved along with a set of BFGoodrich tires.

BFGoodrich Tires has one of the most comprehensive and storied motorsports histories in the world. In 2003, the brand was actively involved in more than 13 race series. In 2004, BFGoodrich Tires announced that it will become the official tire of the Hooters USAR ProCup stock car racing series and the Skip Barber open-wheel racing series and driving school.

BFGoodrich® Tires combines technological expertise with vast motorsports experience, delivering a high-performance tire for every type of vehicle from ultra-high performance tuner vehicles, sports cars and SUVs to the hottest sport trucks, pickups and rock-crawling rigs in the world. For more than 30 years, BFGoodrich Tires has used motorsports as a proving ground. Success on the street begins with winning on the track and BFGoodrich Tires is involved in every type of racing, including oval, road, drag, desert and extreme rock-crawling. With 18 consecutive SCORE Baja 1000 overall 4-wheel vehicle wins, the most victories in rock-crawling history, and an unmatched record on pavement, BFGoodrich Tires has proven the only records it breaks are its own.
