Teixeira Tech Takes Second At Golden West Cycle Parker “250”
Parker,
AZ (January 8, 2005) -- The Teixeira/Maxxis/CT off-road ATV race
team of Ed Teixeira and Jason Sparks took 2nd Place in class and 4th quad overall
at the Golden West Cycle Parker “250”. This was the 1st event of
the Best in the Desert 2005 Silver State Series. The
team is riding a Teixeira Tech built hybrid KTM 520R, with Teixeira Tech suspension
components and Custom Axis shocks. Precision-RP is also supplying a new state
of the art adjustable steering stabilizer to smooth out the desert bumps. CT
will be taking care of motor porting and pipe duties. C.L. Bryant VP Race Fuels
will be supplying gas for ultimate motor performance. And to get the power to
the ground and eliminate flats, Maxxis Tires will be used in conjunction with
Keizer Wheels. To keep the team protected as they are racing through the desert,
they will be wearing Moose Racing gear. The team feels that they have the ultimate
in set-up and sponsors for the 2005 season and look forward to pulling off a
championship.
Ed started the
race as the 1st expert quad off the line. By the alternate pit, Ed had pulled
a few minutes on all the experts except the team of Q80. Q80 had remained exactly
where they were off the line, 2 minutes back. Bad luck struck the Teixeira Tech
team on the second half of the 1st lap, when the left rear hub nut fell off
with the hub. Jason scrambled to catch the tire as it rolled passed the quad.
Stopping every few miles, Jason had to push the hub back on until he reached
the main pit for repairs. He fought hard to catch up and pass various riders,
completing the start of lap two to the alternate pit for a rider swap. Ed Teixeira
rode for a problem free 74 miles and passing Q79 to move into 2nd place on the
course. Jason Sparks passed Q80 who had been leading for the past 2 laps and
rode the last leg of the race while battling Q79. A flat tire slowed Jason down
for the last 15 miles, allowing Q79 to pass him and resume their lead.
The Teixeira Tech
Team is looking forward to the 2nd BITD event in April 2005, the Terrible’s
Town “250”.
