Crandon Raceway Announces 2005 Events CRANDON, WI -- Crandon International Off-Road Raceway is preparing its facility for three huge summer weekends of entertainment in Forest County, located in northeastern Wisconsin. Already home to the annual BorgWarnerWorld Championship Off-Road Races, the legendary Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run Races, the prestigious Potawatomi Governor's Cup Race and the $125,000 BorgWarner Shootout -- Crandon Raceway opens its 2005 event schedule by hosting a Biker Rally featuring a pair of all-time favorite rock bands. The track has announced the 3rd annual "Thunder Valley Biker Rally" presented by the Forest County Potawatomi to be held June 10-12, 2005 on track grounds. The FCP Biker Rally will be quickly followed by the Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run Races June 24-26. Later in the year, Crandon hosts off-road racing's premier race weekend -- the BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races over Labor Day Weekend, September 2-4, 2005. Both race events are part of the newly-managed Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) circuit. Additionally, both race weekends will feature AMA Motocross racing Friday night under the lights. Crandon officials have booked two well-known rock bands for the FCP Biker Rally III. These include Creedance Clearwater and Grand Funk Railroad. Creedance is scheduled to play the evening of Friday, June 10 while Grand Funk Railroad will rock Crandon's 400-acres on Saturday evening. The top name bands are expected to draw bikers from across the country. The two rock bands require the largest live concert stage ever erected at Crandon Raceway. Besides entertainment, the rally will include Team Extreme Street Stunts by the Buell Factory Stunt Team and rally attendees will be able to compete on Motorcycle Drag Racing's "Dyno Shootout" Semi, among other traditional rally events. Crandon Raceway is located on 400 acres and features dedicated campgrounds with facilities, including showers and a paved exhibit and live concert area. The actual Crandon off-road race track is situated in a natural valley provided outstanding spectator viewing -- hence the name "Thunder in the Valley". A Poker Run will be held prior to the event. Crandon International Off-Road Raceway, which made its name as the premier off-road race track in the country, is ramping up for another explosive season of off-road racing. The two off-road race dates are part of the Lucas Oil Championship Off-Road Racing circuit. The June Brush Run Races feature a “heavy metal shootout” for the Forest County Potawatomi “Governor’s Cup”. The race will be the highlight of a weekend of professional off-road racing featuring high performance 800 hp trucks as well as off-road buggies. The Forest County Potawatomi Governor's Cup race is the longest running "heavy metal challenge race" in the country. The 2005 event will the the 12th annual race. The weekend kicks off with AMA Motocross racing under the lights. It is the first Friday night event in the history of the June Brush Run races. The 2005 BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races will be the 36th annual for Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. The highlight of the World Championships is the BorgWarner Shootout, an identical event to the heavy metal Governor’s Cup race but includes Time Trials to enter the race. The 15-minute, 10-lap Shootout features the biggest purse in off-road racing and the $125,000 BorgWarner off-road cup. The weekend includes the popular Potawatomi Friday Night X-treme Thunderfest, beginning at 7 p.m. on September 2. The track is also in discussions with a track sponsor on a special program for Saturday evening under the lights and will announce details later this summer. The track officially begins operations the week of April 25 when Crandon Raceway opens its gates for private test sessions by high-powered factory-backed off-road truck racing teams. Among the racers to test the last week of April.will be defending BorgWarner Shootout champion Johnny Greaves, DePere, WI. Greaves, the reigning "King of Off-Road Racing", drove his Forest County Potawatomi Toyota Tundra to a thrilling win in the 2004 BorgWarner Shootout claiming the $125,000 BorgWarner Cup for Toyota Trucks. The Cup is presently with Toyota and is on a nationwide show circuit. Last weekend, the Cup was displayed at the Toyota exhibit in conjunction with the Long Beach Grand Prix in California. Greaves' $7,500 BorgWarner Championship Driver's Award -- dubbed the "King of Off-Road Racing" award -- is currently on display at the Forest County Potawatomi Community headquarters. The BorgWarner Cup, launched at Crandon Raceway in 1995, was recently insured for $125,000 -- up from $100,000 last year.
