ProComp, Coyne & Robby Gordon Motorsports Dominate
at the 2005 Baja 500!

Congratulations to Marty & Travis Coyne, Robby Gordon and the entire #5 and #83 Trophy Truck Teams for their excellent 4th & 1st place finishes at the 2005 SCORE Baja 500!

Pro Comp descended on the beautiful town of Ensenada to tackle this year’s treacherous Baja 500 race course described as the roughest and most dangerous in over 10 years. With a record 29 entries in the elite Trophy Truck class, Robby drew 4th car off the line. Lady luck however was not so good to Marty & Travis having drawn the 29th starting spot; however they rose to the challenge.

As did the Coynes, Robby Gordon’s #83 entry had a picture perfect day resulting in 1st place in class and, with over 300 total entries, 1st place overall. Our hats off to Robby and his team for a great day in Mexico!

Marty Coyne was the first driver for the #5 team and flawlessly navigated the Pro Comp Trophy Truck through the washed out roads of Tres Hermanos and Urapan to race mile 171 (Valley de Trinidad) where his son Travis assumed the driving duties. Travis then muscled the Pro Comp Trophy Truck through both Simsons and Mike’s Sky Ranch without a single flat or problem! On top of Marty’s and Travis' perfect day behind the wheel, The Pro Comp / Coyne Motorsports crew provided a day of flawless pit, fueling and chase support second to none. When the dust settled, Coyne Motorsports and the Pro Comp Trophy Truck roared across the finish line 4th in class a mere 32 seconds out of 3rd place.

Look for the Pro Comp teams at the Baja 1000 where they’ll be looking to charge hard for another fantastic Baja performance.
