Henderson's Terrible 300 Desert Race Continues to Grow
Race officials add 100-mile course enhancement for the December race
Henderson, NV (August 2, 2005) -- The Henderson Convention and Visitors Bureau and Best in the Desert Racing Association will add 100 miles to the previous 300-mile race, in fact creating the Henderson’s Terrible 400.
Best in the Desert Racing Association, the Henderson Convention
and Visitors Bureau and the City of Boulder City are sponsoring the motor
sport event that
will take place December 1-4, in the Eldorado Valley located between Henderson
and Boulder City. The race will feature cars, trucks, buggies, motorcycles
and ATV’s.
The announcement comes as a result of feedback race officials received from the racers. The 400-mile race will effectively increase the time to race completion from 8 hours to 12 hours.
"Last year’s event was a homerun with our racers and when they asked for more, I was happy to accommodate the request," said Casey Folks of Best in the Desert Racing Association, the sanctioning body for the event. This year’s course will change slightly to accommodate the additional mileage. The course will be extended from 65 miles to 80+ miles per lap. Racers will be challenged with five full laps on what has been regarded as the fastest course in the Best in the Desert race series.
Henderson’s Terrible 400 is the final and deciding race of the Best in the Desert series which includes such popular races as the Parker 425 and the McMillan Nevada 1000. The five-race series is nearing completion, with only one race, the TSCO “Vegas to Reno,” remaining to gather points before Henderson’s Terrible 400.
The tentative schedule of race events includes: Dec. 1,
Time Trials for starting position and course reconnaissance; Dec. 2, Manufacturer’s
Midway, Vehicle Technical Inspection and street party with live entertainment;
Dec. 3, Race
Day; and Dec. 4, Awards Celebration. Details and pre-race activities are still
being finalized.
