Heber, California (September 5, 2005) -- ESPN2 "Truck Stop" host Rebecca Grant, a well-known sports television host and her film crew arrived to the SMD Motorsports compound via the SMD Logistics Pilatus PC12. The ESPN2 Truck Stop crew was flown in from Santa Monica to the desert where they spent the day among the SMD Motorsports crew as the #27 trophy truck was prepped for an afternoon test session. Grant, a top rated celebrity television host, had the chance to be part of SMD Motorsports as they prepare for the inaugural race of their new #27 trophy truck. She has co-hosted the "NFL Under the Helmet" show on FOX for the past two seasons, as well as E! Channels' "Wild On," and has a long resume of television appearances. The gorgeous Hollywood starlet fought off the triple digit temperatures during the filming of the trophy truck preperation phase, as she joked with Team Owner - Steve Scaroni during interviews. "Hosting Rebecca and the ESPN2 crew at our facility is just one of many opportunities we are capitalizing on with our trophy truck program. During the rest of the 2005 season and heading into 2006, we plan to unveil a high impact and high exposure trophy truck program to the desert racing scene. All of our sponsors were highlighted during this filming and we're excited to bring our partners in-focus television coverage." Grant demonstrated her talents as #27 driver - Matt Scaroni outlined the important aspects of the truck to the television diva. Using the air-jack system, Grant changed the right rear tire with some slight lifting assistance from Matt. "She fired up the air-powered impact wrench and jammed the lug nuts on tight, as we got ready for the first test run. We had a blast with Rebecca and the ESPN crew," commented Matt Scaroni. By late afternoon, the film crew was set up at the Plaster City OHV area, where many San Diego based off-road motor sports teams often perform testing. The film crew was able to chase the #27 truck through the desert at speed with the help of SMD Motorsports top co-driver, Travis Clarke, who piloted the SMD chase truck. "The film crew literally had two guys hanging out the windows of the chase truck as they captured the testing session. These guys were having a blast," commented Clarke. SMD Motorsports will debut the #27 trophy truck at the SCORE Primm 300 on Friday, September 9th. Contingency will be held at the Buffalo Bill's Special Events lot on the east side of the Buffalo Bills Casino from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Afterwards, SMD Motorsports has planned an extravagant desert fiesta where Brenda Scaroni will christen the newest truck to the SMD Motorsports racing fleet. Steve Scaroni explained, "We've pulled out all the
stops for the Primm race. We are hosting an invitation only dedication party
early in the evening
and then afterwards, we have invited the entire off-road community to our main
pit location for dessert and a showing of the film, Dust to Glory. Our many supporters include: Ford Motor Company, BFGoodrich Tires, Mastercraft Seats, FOX Racing Shocks, TrailReady Beadlocks, SkyBitz, VP Racing Fuel, Rock On Motorsports & Pure Power Lubricants.
