hosts Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser at PRIMM 300
Heber, California (September 5, 2005) -- Facing
the nation’s
worst natural disaster ever, SMD Motorsports will host a Hurricane Katrina
fundraiser
at the SCORE Tecate Primm 300 off-road race.
“The scope of devastation to the Gulf Coast is unbelievable. We all
know that the off-road community understands the nature of giving and SMD Motorsports
will host a fundraiser for victims. A portion of the proceeds will be donated
to Samaritan’s Purse for the Katrina Relief Fund and the remainder will
be distributed to other agencies in need of cash contributions,” said
Team Owner Steve Scaroni.
The Hurricane Katrina Raffle and Silent Auction will include many prizes donated
by the off-road industry. Visit www.smdmotorsports.com for a complete list
of prizes and donors. ESPN personality and off-road racer, Cameron Steele,
will perform the Master of Ceremony duties for the event.
The Scaroni Family will also match the final raffle ticket
proceeds in a cash donation to the Katrina victims. In addition, the Scaroni
Family is looking
for a few “Match Partners,” who will receive extensive recognition
throughout the Primm 300 race weekend.
This Friday Night At 7:00 p.m. SMD Motorsports will present a showing of
the film, “Dust
to Glory” on several big screens at the SMD Main Pit. Following the movie
at approximately 8:30 p.m., ESPN’s Cameron Steele will take center stage
where he will conduct the Hurricane Katrina fundraiser raffle. After the raffle,
SMD Motorsports will feature the famed film, “On Any Sunday” on
the big screens surrounding the SMD Motorsports main pit. Everyone is invited
and dessert will be served!
