Moss Brothers Take The Feature

The Bishop, CA based SCORE Class 3 champion Moss brothers are on the cover and their Cinnamon Ranch 1979 Ford Bronco is the feature vehicle in the September/October 2005 issue of Bronco Driver magazine, on news stands this week. The background and some photos for the article entitled, “Do Ken and Don Moss Have The Most Successful Race Bronco Of All Time?” written by Todd Zuercher, was obtained at this year’s SCORE Laughlin race. While it is debatable if the Moss Bronco is the most successful ever, it is without a doubt the most successful in recent memory. The team’s first outing was at the 2000 SCORE Baja 2000, where they did complete the race, arriving in 5th place in their class. The Moss brothers then entered the class full time in 2002 and have never looked back, amassing 15 SCORE Class 3 wins and two wins in VORRRA Class 8 short course. However, Ken had several years of desert racing experience prior to that, having driven in the motorcycle open sportsman class in ’95, ’96 and ’98 and in the ’92 Baja 1000 on a quad. His teammates from back then state, “Ken was/is and excellent motorcycle rider known for his smooth, fast, consistent riding. He rarely crashed. He was also our night riding guru.” Ken continues to be this team’s driver of choice where night racing is involved.

The team was forced to take a DNF at the SCORE Baja 500, when they finished the course in 20 hours – just one hour over the SCORE time limit. “That one hurt because that took us out of the chase for the Toyota Milestone Award this year,” said Don Moss.

Ken recently arrived back in the states after being overseas on a work assignment and is looking forward to being in the driver’s seat at this weekend’s 10th Anniversary SCORE Las Vegas Primm 300 race. His older brother Don has serviced the Bronco, the team members are gathering from across the State of California and all eyes are focused on adding another victory to the team’s list. The Moss brothers have taken Class 3 victories at this race in 2002 and 2004. Out of over 220 vehicles entered, there are six entered in Class 3 this weekend, the most since the Baja 2000 race and they will be making three laps around the 74 mile course just outside of Primm, Nevada. The Cinnamon Ranch Bronco is sponsored by River City Differential – Rancho Cordova, CA; Deaver Springs – Santa Ana, CA; King Shocks – Garden Grove, CA; Cinnamon Ranch – Bishop, CA and BF Goodrich Tires.

Bronco Driver magazine covers anything having do with Broncos – from restoration to competition. They credit the Bronco as the most modified off road vehicle on the market. The magazine is available in many of the larger bookstore chains across the US such as Barnes & Noble and Books A Million, and customers can get also get a copy at the website – www.broncodriver.com.
