UBRT Racing Wins the SNORE Gold Coast 250 in Las Vegas Oct. 1st.
Yes,
that's what is says. We won our 10th race in the last 11 races. This great
deal of this track is part of the old Mint 400 course from years ago.
SNORE put
on one of the best races that our team has been to so far. This course was
59 miles long with being rough, having gravel, silt, bumps, jumps, canyons
and rally
type terrain. We happen to have the FAIR pit organization invite us to pit
with them. This made 7 teams pitting together. We also had one of the editors
from
Dirt Sport Magazine hang out in our pits all day and take pictures. If I am
correct, it was Chris and it's to my belief he had a great time. I was in the
truck all
day. Sorry.
For the start of the weekend, I had left with my Uncle Bill Thursday
morning to get familiar with where the track was along with where tech was
to be held
Friday night. Lloyd Snyder and Nick Cerulle (both happen the be my co-drivers
this weekend) showed up in Lloyd's coach Thursday night in Vegas and we all
went out to the track. Lloyd and Nick stayed at the track that night with the
race
trailer and my Unk and I stayed
at my house at the lake for the weekend. Saturday we checked over the truck
and Lloyd and I went on the "fun run pre-run" to
set our new GPS that Jerry at Camburg helped us out with. When we got back
from that we thought, "boy is this going to be a fun track".
Friday
afternoon some of our crew showed up and we cleaned the truck, loaded it
up and went to tech. Towards the end of tech, we were stopped be the camera
crew to do the interview for a off road show that will air on both SPEED
and
OLN at a later date. I will keep you all informed.
Saturday
was race day. It started out with a minor spring adjustment on the rear and
then off to the line up. We happen to be the very last starter in
the field
which is where I like to be with Lloyd as my co-dawg. Green flag and we where
off on a venture of fun. The camera crew happen to pick us up in the Helicopter
about 1/2 mile into the race and followed us for what seemed to be 15 minutes.
Of course we had to give them a good show! At about the 14 mile mark one
of the teams in a 5-1600 car (baja) that we happen to be pitted with flagged
us
down.
They asked us to
push them to get there car started. It didn't start after 1/4 of a mile so
we towed them to the next pit at the 25 mile mark. That's
right,
10 miles and Lloyd and I giggled like little girls the whole time pulling
them at almost race speed as we were still in a race. We called them our
Lucas fishing
lure! Funny thing is that the FLUIDYNE cooling system we have kept the engine
and trans a! t 190* or below. Yes Gary and Kevin, we figured it all out and
it's awesome now. Thanks guys! We also happen to cut down a tire just after
releasing
the 5-1600 car. After we changed the tire, we later stopped at main pit for
fuel, a fresh spare tire and co-driver change.
Second lap: At this time as we were in the lead
and Nick in the right seat setting our pace on the GPS we were again followed
by the Helicopter with the camera
crew for another 12 miles. We stopped at pit B and had them check the truck
for insurance of no problems and when we left I happened to plow into a rock
and
cut down another tire. Yep, driver error! Lap 3 was uneventful and happen
to be our fastest lap. When we took the checkered flap, the camera crew happened
to be there and did a post race interview of our team.
Now for the ones that mean a lot to this team and without there support and
dedication we wouldn't be where we're at today. Chris White, Cameron, Ryan
and Matt (524 team), Alan and Eric Vandal, Scott Mol, Jeff Moore, Jeff and
Brett Carley, Uncle Bill and papa Crone.
