CORR's Southern California Debut a Success
2006 Series Schedule to Include West Coast Stops
Los Angeles, CA (October 12, 2005) -- Championship
Off Road Racing’s
(CORR) recent debut in Southern California was deemed a complete success by
CORR officials. The Nissan Off-Road Nationals presented by Lucas Oil, CORR’s
first weekend of off-road racing ever in Southern California, saw an attendance
of close to 30,000 with attendance jumping to over 30,000 for the CORR Championship
Cup Shoot Out on the second weekend!
Each of the inaugural stops also saw a record number of
racers entered with more than 150 off road pros and novices registered to
compete in eight classes.
Event excitement also piqued during the two history making weekends with superstar
guest drivers coming out to compete…seven-time Supercross Champ Jeremy
McGrath, raced all four days and came close to podium finishes twice with two
fourth-place finishes. Also, foraying into the off road mix was NASCAR great
Boris Said, IRL phenome Roberto Guerro as well as West Coast Choppers/Monster
Garage’s pop icon Jesse James and Supercross/FMX superstar Travis Pastrana.
Taking into consideration the tremendous response received
throughout each of these two Southern California weekends, CORR will add
four West Coast stops
to the series – two weekends in San Diego and two weekends in the greater
Los Angeles area. The 14 round series continues in the Midwest with two Crandon
weekends and the Bark River stop rounding out the Championship Off Road racing
2006 series schedule.
“We are at a crucial point with this series, which is poised for growth
and ready to move to the next level,” added Jim Baldwin, CORR’s
owner. “The 2006 season will have great racing, in some new venues, and
continue to have great racing in some existing venues.” “From a
sponsor stand point, interest within the series is at an all-time high as is
support from many of the ancillary companies involved with the sport.” “It’s
truly an exciting time for Championship Off Road Racing!”
