CORR Race Report – Rounds 3 & 4
As the CORR Pro Series heads for back to the Midwest for the first time in 2006, Scott Douglas is looking to improve on his race performances from Chula Vista in both the # 7 Rancho Suspension Pro2 and # 7 AMSOIL, KUMHO “Super Team” Pro-4 truck.

Saturday – Round 3
Ford Trucks Pro2 Race
After morning practice Scott Douglas felt confident that his #7 Rancho Suspension AMSOIL KUMHO Tire, Ford F-150 was set for a podium finish.

At the drop of the green flag, Scott Douglas headed down the Precision Gear Land Rush straightway and into turn one in seventh place. By lap two, second through 9th place were nose to tail. As Scott Battled to gain track position, his power steering began to fade. On lap 4, the truck lost the power steering assist all together. Scott continued on looking to gain valuable points towards the 2006 championship. The last half of the race saw Scott carefully guide the truck to the checkered flag. Scott finished on the lead lap in 9th place.

Borg-Warner Pro-4 Race
After the opening rounds at Chula Vista, Scott Douglas was able to put in extensive time testing the new Pro-4 race truck. Scott along with his Pro-4 team; Bill Smith, Mike Schoffstall, and Jason Schampers were able to really take the time to get all aspects of the truck working together. After Saturday morning practice the team had high hopes for a podium finish.

As the Pro-4 competitors headed down the Precision Gear Land Rush Start, Scott and his #7 AMSOIL, KUMHO, Rancho, Ford F-150 were locked in a battle with the # 43 truck for second place as the field headed for the Ford Trucks Sky Box Straight-away. On lap 2 the KUMHO Tires put the Pro Power horsepower to the ground and passed the # 43 of Curt Leduc for second place. Now it was time to chase down the leader Johnny Greaves. On lap 4 the new truck gremlins saw the output shaft from the transfer case break, ending Scott's day at the halfway point of the race.
Officially Scott Douglas was credited with an eighth place finish.

“We came to Crandon well prepared and ready to race. Unfortunately both trucks suffered parts failure we have never experienced. It’s impossible to run at typical race speeds when your power steering has failed, but we were able to keep the Rancho Suspension Ford F-150 Pro2 truck on the track and collect a few championship points,” commented Scott Douglas. “The AMSOIL Pro-4 truck really performed like we had hoped. The truck is able to compete with front-runners in the class. Team Engineer, Bill Smith and the team will have the trucks ready to compete for the win on Sunday.”

Sunday Round 4
Pro-4 Race
Sunday Morning practice was canceled due to the rain that fell overnight and into the morning. By the time the Pro-4 race came to the line, track conditions were almost perfect for the high horsepower, all wheel drive trucks. The schedule was also changed to give the full-size trucks more time to prepare for the last race of the day, The Chairman's Cup Heavy Metal Challenge. At the drop of the green flag, Scott grabbed the hole shot and led the field down the front straight-away with #22 Johnny Greaves on his rear bumper. On lap two Greaves made the pass for the lead, but Scott and his # 7 AMSOIL, KUMHO Super Team, Rancho Ford F-150 stayed right with the #22. Then on lap 5 Scott's truck suffered a similar failure as in previous round of racing. American Axle Pro2 Race

This race was red flagged, Douglas was in 4 th on the second lap and the race was restarted due to a severe crash in the Argonne Loop by Josh Baldwin. After going end over end and rolling several times, the Baldwin truck came to a sudden stop off course in the forest. The safety crews got to Josh Immediately and fortunately he climbed out of his truck on his own. On the restart, Scott found himself ahead of but battling for position between #77 and #3 trucks, as the three headed for the Ford Trucks Sky Box Straight-away. By lap 3 Douglas was working his way to the front. On lap 4, a huge rock, the size of a bowling ball came up out of the track, and hit the right rear shock shaft, breaking it, which caused the handling of the truck to deteriorate. Scott was able to drive at a reduced speed to finish the race and gain points.

The Chairman's Cup Heavy Metal Challenge
The 2006 edition of the Chairman's Cup saw all the Pro-4 and Sportsman 2 trucks line up at the traditional start line and the top 8 Pro2 trucks starting at the beginning of Turn One. This handicapped start is exciting to watch as the faster Pro4 drivers catch their two-wheel drive competitors. Once again Douglas got a great start, as the # 22 Greaves truck and Douglas went into the first turn in 1-2 positions.

The intensity of this high stakes race can also make some competitors become very aggressive with their driving. Unfortunately Scott Douglas # 7 Pro-4 truck was a victim of that aggressiveness. As Scott and his # 7 AMSOIL KUMHO Tire “Super Team” Pro-4 entered the finish line corner to complete the second lap, the driver of the # 43 hit Douglas's right front wheel. This immediately broke the steering on the truck and ending his chances for the $30,000 first place prize.
“My team really worked hard this weekend. Even with all the adversity, nobody gave up. We found out our new Pro-4 truck is really fast, but we have a driveline issue. That will not be a problem when we get to Bark River,” stated Scott Douglas. “Our Pro2 program is very solid and is one of the best trucks on the track. We just have some out of the ordinary problems. Both trucks will be ready to bring home the top spot on the podium in Bark River,”

Scott Douglas Would like to thank all his supporters including: AMSOIL, Rancho Suspension, KUMHO Tires, Ford Trucks, Reider Racing, Precision Gear, KC Hi Lites, MSD Ignition, Mastercraft Seats, Howe Performance, ProPower Race Engines, Phils Inc and everyone else.

Next Race - July 8-9 – Island Inn Casino UP Off-Road 100 – Bark River, Michigan.
