COYNE MOTORSORTS AND PRO COMP SUSPENSION TAKE HOME TWO VICTORIES AT S.C.O.R.E. TERRIBLE'S CUP II
Coyne Motorsports blew into Sin City for the running of the 2nd annual SCORE Las Vegas Terrible's Cup short course race held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This year's course featured a 1.5-mile man-made chunk of Baja that proved to be both challenging and exciting for fans and competitors alike.
Coyne Motorsports driver Marty Coyne returned with his # 5 Pro Comp Trophy Truck to defend his title as reigning champion from last years inaugural event were he swept the competition and took the $10,000 in 1st place prize money.
This year's event started the same as last years with Marty dominating the field in both Fridays Heat Race and Semi-Main event. Fridays Semi-Main event proved to be the most exciting race of the weekend as Pro Comp's Marty Coyne and NASCAR'S Robby Gordon battled hard from start to finish. When the checkers waved it was the Pro Comp Trophy Truck that crossed the line first with Gordon finishing in second. "I drove the wheels off this Pro Comp Trophy Truck tonight and it performed flawlessly" Coyne said. "A big Thanks to our guys back at the shop who hands down prep one the best vehicles in the dirt".
Coyne Motorsports came into Saturday with high hopes as they were once again considered the team to beat. Unfortunately Marty's hopes of sweeping this year's event were not to be as the Pro Comp Trophy Truck suffered a flat tire in both Saturday's Heat Race and Main Event as a result of rubbing fenders with the competition. "It was disappointing to be sidelined so early in both of our races today" "These BFGoodrich Tires were absolutely amazing this weekend, they walked away from the competition in both of Fridays races, its unfortunate to have a tire failure but it does happen in full contact short course racing"
Look for Coyne Motorsports and the Pro Comp Pro-2 and Pro-4 to be charging hard in Bark River, Michigan August 12-13 2006 for Rounds 9 and 10 of the Championship Off Road Racing Series (CORR).
