DIXON BROS. RACING
BEGIN THEIR DEFENSE OF CLASS 7100
SILVER STATE SERIES TITLE AT
SEASON OPENING ‘PARKER 425’

Lompoc, CA - The Blue Water Resort & Casino ‘Parker 425’, opening race of Best in the Desert Racing Association’s Silver State Series, is scheduled for February 1- 3 in Parker, Arizona. The ‘Parker 425’ is a unique blend of tough, technical terrain and long high speed sections where you have to know when to drive hard and when not to. This sort of varied landscape is very demanding on drivers, crews and vehicles alike and it’s not uncommon to see the course littered with cars and trucks whose drivers have simply run out of luck (or talent). The race will cover three loops over a tough 137 mile course that will finish in the shadow of the Blue Water Resort, on the banks of the historic Colorado River.

What a difference a year makes! Dixon Bros. Racing is kicking off the 2008 season with a bold new paint scheme on their Class 7100 Ford Ranger. The crew spent much of the past two months, since the ‘Henderson 400’, improving and repainting the truck in preparation for the 2008 racing season. At last year’s ‘Parker 425’, the Dixon Bros. barely made it to the start line on raceday morning with a basically stock Class 7100 Ford Ranger, three weeks in the making and whose only testing time was in the distance from the garage to the trailer. With the 2008 Best in the Desert ‘Parker 425’ just a few days away, the Dixons are putting the final touches on their state of the art #7101 Ford Ranger as they prepare to defend their 2007 Class 7100 Silver State Series points championship. After “surviving” last year’s ‘Parker 425’ with a second place finish in class, team owner Aaron Dixon spent the next two races refining the truck and making it competitive. The Dixon Bros. finished the 2007 season with convincing wins at the ‘Las Vegas 300, the ‘Henderson 400’ and won the Class 7100 points championship by a comfortable margin.

Most would think that after winning the class points championship, the Dixons would feel more confident about the “Parker 425” this year. “Well, yes and no”, says Aaron Dixon. “The truck is very competitive, so I can push it a lot harder and not have to worry so much about breaking. At Parker, last year, I knew the truck was not 100% and I had to be cautious to survive but, when everything is dialed in and working well, you have to force yourself to be disciplined. A lot of these guys think they can win the race in the first 100 miles and put their foot to the floor as soon as the green flag drops. In the early stages of the event, it’s important to just let them go and concentrate on driving your own race. The fact is that over half of the entries aren’t going to finish and you don’t want to be a part of that statistic”.

Aaron will drive the first and third laps with co-rider, Ed Ramirez in the navigator’s seat. Ian Dixon, will be on hand at the main pit to take over on lap #2 with co-rider, Phil Ramirez in as navigator. Rounding out the team, Jim Dixon (father), will be on hand to chase and help out in the pits while Ed and Phil’s parents, Manny and Andrea Ramirez, will be on duty in the second chase truck. Dixon Bros Racing has been a family effort since the beginning and as a team have won three class points championships. Dixon Bros. Racing is looking forward to a good finish in Parker and the successful defense of their Class 7100 points title in 2008.
