TEAM HUMMER READY FOR ‘PARKER 425’
Reno, NV - After season opening class wins for both the H3 and H3 Alpha at the SCORE ‘Laughlin Desert Challenge’ last weekend, Team HUMMER is preparing all three trucks for Best in the Desert Racing Association’s Blue Water Resort & Casino ‘Parker 425’, February 1-3, in Parker, Arizona. The opening event of BitD’s 2008 Silver State Series, Chad & Josh Hall each took class wins at last year’s ‘Parker 425’, crossing the finish line together late in the evening. Although Chad Hall won the Class 8100 Silver State Series points championship in 2007, Josh and Chad will switch classes this year leaving up to Josh to defend his brother’s class points title in 2008. This will be the first time the #4111 H3 Alpha Full-Stock SUV or the #8111 H2 Full-Stock Pickup will race in Parker, however, the H3 Alpha has wins at the SCORE ‘Baja 1000’ and ‘Laughlin Desert Challenge in it’s first two races. Josh Hall, who won here in 2007, will drive the entire event in the new #8111 Team HUMMER H2 SUT. Sharing the navigator seat in the H2 will be Jason Jacopian at the start and Emily Miller will be in for the finish. Chad Hall will drive the #4111 H3 Alpha with Thad Stump going the distance in the second seat. And, finally, Rod Hall will start in the #3111 H3 SUV and will share driving time with Mike Winkel, who will take the wheel for the second lap. Jake Povey will spend both laps in the navigator’s seat. The race will start at 7:15 AM (MST) off California Street, on the Southside of downtown Parker, although with a record 300+ entries starting the event, it is unlikely that any of the Team HUMMER trucks will get started until sometime after 10:00 AM. The course is a 137 mile loop of grueling desert terrain and Class 8100 (Josh) will drive three laps, while Class 4100 (Chad) and Class 3100 (Rod) will race twice around the course. The event will conclude at the Blue Water Resort and Casino, on the banks of the Colorado River, sometime in the early evening hours for Rod and Chad. It will be close to midnight by the time Josh crosses the finish line in the #8111 Team HUMMER H2 SUT because of the extra lap the Class 8100 trucks will be running. After suffering some sheet metal damage in the ‘Baja 1000’, the #3111 H3 required a significant amount of body work and a total repaint to get the truck back in shape prior to the start of the season opener in Laughlin. The crew from the GM Desert Proving Ground, in Mesa, AZ also replaced the rear springs and installed new driveline components to get the H3 ready for 2008. After an almost trouble-free race in Baja, the #4111 H3 Alpha appeared to require only minor work, mechanically, so it was decided that a basic prep would be more than enough to get it through the two laps at Parker. The new #8111 H2 SUT had the front differential mount repaired and received heavier skid plates to keep the driveline safe, so all the Team HUMMER trucks are ready for the Parker ‘425’ and the team is looking forward to a strong showing from all three trucks this weekend. We are ready for this race and anxious for the green flag to drop on the 2008 Best in the Desert racing season. The mood at Team HUMMER is confidence in all of our trucks for Parker and for the entire 2008 racing season. This will be an exciting year for the team with some new races on our schedule and the new #8111 Team HUMMER H2 SUT and #4111 H3 Alpha SUV tested and ready to compete. For the time being, we are off to take on the “Parker 425’ and our plan is to make it to the winner’s circle. To learn more about Team HUMMER, visit us at www.rodhallracing.com.
