Martensen Motorsports Baja 500 Post Race Report Rob Martensen drove the first half and everything went great. We started 18th and we were 5th on the road and 4th on time when Rob got out. Rich took over driving duties and went about 35 miles when a rocker arm on the engine broke. It was a fixable problem with the spare parts we had, but Rich was back in the mountains by Mike's Sky Ranch, so they were having trouble getting to the pit. The car would still run, however, it didn't have enough power to make it up some of the big hills, so the co-driver had to get out and push. After about 4 hours of this, they finally made it to Valle de Trinidad where they replaced the rocker and cruised on home with no other problems to the finish line. We ended up 13th out of 20 class entries. It was a bit disappointing, but the good news is: we have finished every race entered this year. Our next race will be the Whiplash Snowflake 250 in Snowflake, AZ on Labor Day weekend. After that we will do a full prep on the car and go for the Baja 1000. We also tested in Barstow with the guys from King Shocks and got our shocks dialed in just right. Martensen Motorsports would like to thank Steve's Quick Service/Shell, Action Auto Racing Gearboxes, Weddle Industries, Mendeola Transaxles, and BFGoodrich Tires for their support.
