Martensen & Roberts To Tackle The Baja 1000! Phoenix, AZ – Rob Martensen and Rich Roberts of Phoenix will split driving duties in the most grueling automobile race in North America, the Baja 1000. This year’s race will start on November 18th in Ensenada, Baja California and finish 1,017 miles later at the southern end of Baja in the seaside town of La Paz. Martensen and Roberts will drive the Martensen Motorsports SCORE Lite car in the limited displacement Volkswagen powered class. “The Baja 1000 is the biggest and most difficult off-road race there is”, said Martensen “it is an honor to have the opportunity to compete in this race. Just to finish will be an accomplishment, but we are aiming for a victory.” Martensen and Roberts began their season with a win in the Parker 425 and hope to finish the year with a win in the granddaddy of all desert races. Martensen will start the race and turn the keys over to Roberts in the town of San Ignacio, roughly half way to La Paz. Martensen Motorsports would like to thank Steve’s Quick Service/Shell, Action Auto Racing Gearboxes, Mendeola Transaxles, Weddle Industries, Foddrill Fabrication, and BFGoodrich Tires for their support.
