CUFFARO on Target
as the Second Half of
CORR Season Kicks Off
@ LA Fairplex-Pomona this Weekend
San Diego, CA - Todd Cuffaro and his crew have worked hard to dial in the
No. 46 UPR Racing Supply/Nissan Motorsports Pro Lite in preparation for
the second half of the 2008 Championship Off Road Racing Season.
The festivities begin mid-week as CORR will move professional
teams into the Los Angeles Fairplex-Pomona race track making way for
what is expected to be an incredible weekend of racing. The racing will be
televised live on SPEED TV beginning at 2:00 p.m. PST. CORR has amped up
this weekend's race on Southern California's television and radio stations,
billing this weekend's event as the final race weekend in Los Angeles until
next season. Thousands of fans are expected to fill the LA Fairplex-Pomona
fairgrounds in search of the nation's top off road racers banging doors and
racing hard for the checkered flag.
This .76 mile CORR race track features a huge jump on the back straightaway,
before racers dive deep into the twisting bowl in the center of the track and
come out at high-speeds headed for some of the biggest bumps in Championship
Off Road Racing
For Todd Cuffaro, the return to this track provides the entire team with a
reprieve from the unfortunate incident that he had during the June race.
The No. 46 UPR Racing Supply/Nissan Motorsports Pro Lite met with near
disaster as Todd's race truck was pummeled by the reigning CORR Pro Lite
champion, who was later black flagged for the incident. As the trucks
emerged from the pile of crushed steel tube, the 24-year old San Diego racer
was faced with driving a wounded truck. Todd overcame the difficulties and
managed to finish 11th overall.
Returning to the track for Sunday's Round 6, Todd demonstrated this team's
resilience with a solid 6th place finish in front of a nearly sold-out crowd.
Todd spoke about his return to Pomona: "We are excited to be returning to
LA Fairplex-Pomona and hope to capitalize on what we learned from racing
at Pomona in June. It's a great track and we seem to run very fast there.
The team is really clicking on all cylinders and we're in good shape as we
head into the second half of the season. We're in fifth position overall
in the points and that sets us up for a solid run towards the season
championship."
The weather conditions at the race track this weekend are expected to have
temperatures hovering in the low to mid 90's with track being extremely hot.
The 2008 season is the first full season of CORR racing for the driver of the
No. 46 UPR Racing Supply/Nissan Motorsports Pro Lite and he's embraced the
opportunity as the leader of the 15 Pro Lite rookies on the race track this
season.
Since the opening race of the season, the talented CORR rookie has scored
four Top 5 finishes along with finishing in the Top 10 of the 28 truck field
every race except in Round 5 when he suffered extensive truck damage at the
hands of another racer.
It's been a wild ride so far this season. We're headed into this race with a
vengeance and our recent testing sessions have been excellent. I see nothing
but continued Top 5 finishes for the No.46 truck," said a confident Cuffaro.
Fans are encouraged to visit the Cuffaro Motorsports Nissan / UPR Racing Supply
Pit Zone to receive signed autograph hero cards of Todd Cuffaro who will be
signing autographs at noon each day.
Saturday's Round 9 of the 2008 CORR Series will be broadcasted on Speed Channel
on live with coverage beginning at 2:00 p.m. PST. Sunday's Round 10 will be
broadcasted on Sunday, September 14, 10:30 a.m. to noon on NBC Sports.
